City Harvest is an Acton based charity that believes that sharing food and nourishing others is one of the simplest, most powerful ways of showing we care. The re-distribute food that would otherwise be wasted, we make businesses more sustainable and more impactful. In you are a business and concerned about Food Waste in Acton, get in touch with City Harvest and they can advise you if they can use that waste. They take food to grassroots organisations that feed some of our most vulnerable and deserving fellow Londoners: The oldest. The youngest. The newest arrivals and the people with the deepest roots in the city.
At Acton Market Reduce and Recycle hub, you can find out more about how we can all Reduce and Recycle more. Food Waste in Acton is something we are concerned with, and we encourage residents to buy less and recycle it in the food waste collection on the doorstep collection.
If you want to get involved in the Acton project, they are seeking support in their warehouse.
Warehouse Assistant
- Unloading deliveries
- Creating mixed trays of food for our charities
- Quality control – checking and grading fresh produce
- Other warehouse tasks
Due to the nature of our operation, the Warehouse Assistant role is quite physical and requires standing, walking and lifting.
Manual handling training will be provided. To volunteer with us you must be: 18+ years
