The Acton Reduce and Recycle Hub has helped divert tonnes of waste from landfill and launches a Crowdfunder campaign to secure its future. The hub is a vital free community resource that inspires many to live a more sustainable life. Our current funding ends after March 2025, therefore the hub launches a Crowdfunder. It is appealing to the community for support to continue its essential work. Without this essential funding, the Reduce and Recycle Hub will close!
Since its launch in October 2022, the hub has become a cornerstone of Acton’s environmental and waste busting efforts. The hub has monthly events, workshops and educational initiatives. Through these it has provided residents with practical ways to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle effectively. The hub has also partnered with local organisations and businesses to create a more sustainable community.
The Acton Reduce and Recycle Hub has made a real difference in our community,” says Mary Horesh, Hub Manager. “We’ve seen a significant engagement at the hub with many dropping off and recycling items such as clothes and small electricals. Plus a growing awareness of environmental issues. However, without continued funding, we risk losing this valuable resource.”
The Crowdfunder campaign aims to raise £10,000. This is then match funded by Aviva Community to keep the hub going for another year. This will cover the hub’s operational costs and ensure its continued operation beyond March 2025. The funds will go towards supporting monthly events, expand educational programmes. Plus develop new initiatives to promote waste reduction and sustainable living. Our vision is a greener, more waste-free future for Acton. This is achieved by getting people to reducing waste, reusing items, and responsible recycling. This then becomes second nature.
“We’re asking the community to help us keep this vital service alive, so thats why the Reduce and Recycle hub launches a crowdfunder” adds Marys Horesh. “Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Together, we can create a greener future for Acton.”

About the Reduce and Recycle hub
The Reduce and Recycle hub was set up with a two year lottery funded project through their Climate Action fund to tackle the climate emergency. We have gained a further six months funding from Ealing council to continue the hub until March 2024. Our Reduce and Recycle hubs are promoting reducing waste, recycling, the circular economy and connecting with nature.
